Intellectual Property (IP) Rights Training

On 11th March 2025, the Social AI CDT hosted an engaging and interactive Intellectual Property (IP) workshop, delivered by Converge at the Advanced Research Centre, University of Glasgow. The session provided PhD students with valuable insights into the role of IP in innovation and entrepreneurship.

Intellectual property is a crucial asset for emerging businesses, often forming the foundation of their competitive advantage. But what exactly constitutes innovation and IP, and how can early-stage businesses leverage their IP effectively?

Through interactive discussions and activities, the workshop explored:

  • The importance of innovation and its role in driving business success;
  • Understanding intellectual property, i.e., what it is and how to protect ideas from being copied;
  • Competitive differentiation, i.e., how businesses can stand out in their industries through strategic use of IP.

This session provided students with a strong foundation in IP management, equipping them with the knowledge to safeguard their ideas and maximise their commercial potential. To view the session slides, click here
